About

At Liejavu Productions, we are passionate about preserving the legacies through film. We believe that every person has a unique story to tell, and we are committed to capturing those stories in a beautiful and lasting way.

We offer a variety of services, from interview-based legacy documentaries, to family, church and business story filming & School Productions. Our team will work with you to create a film that is tailored to your specific needs and vision.

Our films are more than just videos; they are precious heirlooms that can be passed down from generation to generation.

How Filming Works

1 – Pre Production

Upon application, we will initiate contact to gather details about you and your project, ensuring we fully understand your vision, especially for customised experiences.

To optimise filming time, script development, teleprompter use and storyboarding must be finalised during pre-production.

If filming in a more public place we may be required to apply for location shooting permissions from the council or owner of the property.

2 – Production / Filming Day

On the filming day, our team will manage all on-location logistics, including set design, lighting, audio and technical setup, to create the ideal recording environment.

Filming will commence after all technical checks are completed.

We aim to create a relaxed, conversational atmosphere; where clients only need to be themselves. In addition to the interview we film what is called B-Roll… these are extra things we film to help tell your story – if you enjoy sewing or gardening and this is a topic we discuss in the interview, we can film you working on your sowing or in your garden to layer over the interview to help tell a visual story.

* Please provide us with as many photo’s as you can, clearly marked with names, dates, venues and events on the back of each photo. This will ensure the editing process runs smoothly and we match all your loves ones to the photo with the storyline correctly.

3 – Post Production

Post-Production involves editing your footage, integrating photo’s or videos (for custom projects), composing music, and developing a compelling narrative.

A first edit will be provided for your review and feedback. After incorporating your feedback, audio and music will be scored and thereafter the final, packaged project will be delivered.

* Additional edits requested after the initial review will be subject to additional charges.

FAQ

Do I need to learn a script, practise or prepare what I am going to say?

We know it may seem overwhelming to be filmed but once the camera’s are on we quickly get caught up in the fun and time flies!!! So no, no need to learn any sscript or even make any notes!

We will send across a list of some questions as a rough guide. This will help you have an idea of the types of conversations we will have. For most part it will be very relaxed and will be an easy conversation that will flow into many different stories and memories that will come to mind. Many times we will ask questions based on what you are sharing rather than the questions on a set list. This way we capture you most naturally and potentially get to hear stories no one else has!

If you would like to request that we ask specific questions or raise unique stories in during the filming – please do let us know.

Where will filming take place?

In your home or family members’ home where you feel safe and comfortable to share your stories without interruption – a place where you feel a sense of familiarity, ease and comfort with a cup of tea or coffee in hand.

We generally try to film in two different rooms within the same property.

How will my completed project be presented to me?

Projects will be presented in a Legacy USB and Photo Presentation Box. Edited footage will be written to USB devices that will play on both PC and MAC devices. Auto-play menu’s will be created to create ease of use.

How long will it take to edit my footage?

This depends on the size of your project and the hands involved in post-edit.

Anywhere between 2-4 weeks.

Can I record a full family documentary involving interviewing multiple members of my family?
